Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs to detail any recent discussions he has had with the British and Irish Governments on improving water quality in Lough Neagh.
Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs: My department remains committed to enhancing cross border cooperation to improve water quality in Lough Neagh.
I have discussed Lough Neagh water quality with Irish Ministers at a meeting of the North South Ministerial Council Environment Sector.
Officials continue to engage regularly with their counterparts in Ireland, including through the North South Water Quality Coordination Group, to share knowledge and support a coordinated, catchment-based approach to improving water quality.
Officials are also working with colleagues in Ireland to explore opportunities for further collaboration within the Lough Neagh catchment.
