AQW 47022/22-27 – Department for Communities Renewable energy vehicles

Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Communities, in light of increases in fuel costs, whether he has made any recent assessment of the benefits of using renewable sources to power all vehicles used by his Department and by any arm’s-length bodies.

Minister for Communities: I have not made a recent assessment of the use of renewable energy to power all vehicles used by my Department or the Arm’s Length Bodies sponsored by my Department.

Positive progress is being made to decarbonise fleets where feasible. This includes trialling electric vehicles, introducing plugin hybrids, contributing to the crossdepartmental fleet decarbonisation framework, and advancing measures such as EV charging infrastructure and ongoing fleet reviews. Any future investment in renewables would be informed by value for money, efficiency benefits and operational requirements.
