AQW 46685/22-27 – Rural road maintenance in Mid Ulster

Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail any assessment she has made of the adequacy of the level of current funding allocations, for rural road maintenance in Mid Ulster.

Minister for Infrastructure: In distributing the funding available for capital structural maintenance, allocations to the four DfI Roads Divisions are made based on need, using a range of weighted indicators tailored to each maintenance activity. Divisions broadly use these indictors when apportioning across council areas to ensure, as far as possible, an equitable distribution of funding. These indicators encompass usage, general surface condition, structural deformation, public enquiries and public liability claims.

My Department’s four Roads Divisions broadly use the indicators already outlined when apportioning their allocation across council areas to ensure, as far as possible, an equitable distribution of funds.
