Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Assembly Commission for an update on when the human resources service will be available to Members.
Assembly Commission: Following the Assembly Commission’s agreement to provide additional Human Resources (HR) support to Members in order to support them in their role as employers, an HR Manager for Members was appointed in October 2021 to take forward this important work.
Access to the service is now available to all Members and a Briefing Note outlining the nature of the service provided was issued to Members on 3 December 2021.
The HR Manager for Members is currently developing policies, guidance documents and template forms for Members to use in their role as an employer. While these are being developed, the HR Manager for Members will provide advice on general aspects of HR.
Members can contact the HR Manager for Members for advice and guidance on a range of employment related matters including:
Recruitment;
On-Boarding;
Employee Relations matters e.g. disciplinary, grievance, general conduct issues;
Sick absence issues;
Performance issues (including issues that arise in probation);
Flexible working;
Leave related matters e.g. maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental leave; and
Leaving employment (e.g. through retirement or redundancy).
The HR Service for Members is initially being provided on a pilot basis to establish the level of need and demand for the Service.
